I grew up in a small town in Kansas where the summers were long, hot and humid. The winters were long, cold and covered in ice. It was normal to have generators that could power your house in the event that an ice storm knocked out your power for a week (or two). There really wasn't much to speak of in the way of Spring and Fall. You went months on end enduring scorching days to rapidly dropping temperatures, cold nights and on one occasion, 16 inches of snow in a single afternoon (before Thanksgiving).
Now that we have moved south, I actually get to see the leaves change color and enjoy cooler temperatures before the snow starts blowing. Don't get me wrong, I love the look of snow and Christmas time makes me feel like a kid again; however, I absolutely love Autumn. The look, the smell, the feel, everything.
Yesterday was the perfect fall day as far as I am concerned. We spent a good portion of the day outside playing with Nicholas and taking a nice long walk around the hospital. (I know that sounds weird, but actually it's really nice. They built a nice little walkway around part of the hospital campus with fountains and a bridge and have opened it to the public).
(Please excuse the brown looking water. It normally looks much better but it rained a few days ago)

And during our walk, I caught glimpses of red, yellow, and orange. It made me smile.
