Fall is officially in the house.
Today was a cold, windy, rainy day. Despite the gray gloominess, I am becoming more and more excited about fall. We've had a random few cool days and the leaves are ever so slowly changing but earlier this week we had daytime temperatures reach 85. Not really my preferred version of autumn.
I think today, however, was the game changer. Today brought in a cold front that made it cold, wet and yucky, but tomorrow, and for at least the next 10 days (according to the forecast), we should be enjoying mid-60s and sun. Does it get any better?
Well, actually it does. I've been itching for fall for months now and decided to employ my crafty side to see if we couldn't convince mother nature to speed things up a bit. Let's hope it worked.
I've seen yarn wrapped wreaths all over the place for a while now and really wanted to try my hand at making one. So, I picked up some foam tubing from Home Depot, cut the length that I wanted, and taped the ends together to make a wreath shape.
Foam tubing. I forgot to get a picture of the ends taped together.
Next, I glued the end of the yarn into place with a little hot glue and started wrapping the tubing. I ended up wrapping it twice but you could go around as many times as you would like.
Completely wrapped
Finally, I took some red and orange flowers that I had on hand from a recent trip to the craft store and used the hot glue gun to stick them on
This step was tricky for me as I really couldn't decide where I wanted them or how many flowers I wanted to put on. In the end, I just put them along the bottom left. I kind of liked the way they looked on just one section of the wreath.
The finished product
