1 hour upcycle

Have any extra large shirts hanging in your closet that you just haven't had a chance to get rid of or donate yet?

Well, if you have a little less than an hour, you can add a new piece to your wardrobe.
I've had this shirt hanging in the back of my closet for a few years now.

It was a Christmas gift from my mother a few years back and I actually really liked it.  I loved the colors and all of the visible stitching.  The only problem was that it was about 4 sizes too big.  I'm not entirely sure who my mother was picturing when she picked it out.

I just couldn't get rid of it knowing that it had never been worn.  (Actually I did wear it a few times...when I was about 8 months pregnant)
Now that I am no longer pregnant and HUGE, I still wanted to find a way to wear it so I grabbed a pair of scissors and cut it straight down the middle.

Then I folded the cut sides twice and pinned them to make a hem.

Finally, I stitched it up to create a hem.  It is basically now like a buttonless cardigan that I can wear over a white shirt.

So there you have it.  A shirt that originally swallowed me when I wasn't pregnant is now like a brand new addition to my closet.
